Social Care Research Special Interest Group

Online meeting

Social care research special interest group

When: Tuesday 28th June 11-12pm

Where: Teams

Social care research aims to understand more about the needs of children, families and adults who may come into contact with social care, as well as how to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of social care services for those people.

Social care is becoming an increasing priority for research councils who fund research activity, including the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).

As a result, there are a growing number of opportunities for research relevant to those who come into contact with social care, and to improve the care they receive.

However, up until now, social care research has not benefitted from established research capacity, opportunity or supportive structures.

To address this, the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) and the Clinical Research Network (CRN) in North East and North Cumbria are working to build capacity and support capability in social care research through a number of initiatives.

Social Care Research Special Interest Group – open to practitoners and researchers from the North East and North Cumbria, at all career stages

As part of this work, we would like to convene a Social Care Research Special Interest Group.

The special interest group takes a wide definition of social care that includes services from statutory, community, voluntary and private sector organisations from across children and families and adults’ social care.

The group will bring together practitioners and researchers at various stages of their career, and with varying levels of research experience, who are interested in social care research.

Please join us for the first meeting of the social care research special interest group on Tuesday 28th June 2022, 11-12pm.

This special interest group will provide an informal platform to share potential research ideas and develop social care networks. Within this initial meeting we will agree with attendees the future purpose of the group, its organisation, frequency of meetings and group membership.
