This opportunity has now closed for applications

Start your research journey in applied health or social care, by applying for a funded Masters course.

Funded Masters courses places for 2023.

The NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) North East and North Cumbria (NENC) is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research.

Our vision is to achieve better fairer health and care at all ages and in all places in our region.

A key part of achieving this is to support people living and working in the North East and North Cumbria to develop applied research skills. Typically, applied research relates to long term conditions or states, health and care service delivery or access, prevention, and inequalities in the ‘real world’, rather than looking at clinical indicators of disease states or symptom severity.

Funded Masters degree courses

The ARC NENC is offering the opportunity to apply for funded (fees only) places on Masters degree courses in our region. This is open to everyone interested in, or working in, applied health research in the North East and North Cumbria.

The funding will cover fees (paid directly to the institution) for applicants to undertake a Masters course at Newcastle or Northumbria Universities. Any Masters-level degree related to health, social care or applied research topics may be suitable.

The chosen course must involve an applied health or care research component. You will be asked to link up with one of our ARC Applied Research themes for networking and support. Please visit Our research themes – ARC (nihr.ac.uk) for more information on our research themes.

You will need to have a Batchelors degree in a health, social care, or related topic, at the grade required for your proposed course. If you are currently undertaking a Batchelors degree, please submit a projected grade.

The ARC NENC is committed to supporting equality, diversity and inclusion for all staff, members and students. Applications for part time study (up to two years) are welcome where the course allows for this; please state your desired arrangements in your application.
