If so, take a look at this new and handy guide to the NIHR research centres and collaborations that sit in the North East and North Cumbria.

Introducing the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) in our region

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) funds, enables and delivers world-leading health and social care research that improves people’s health and wellbeing and promotes economic growth.

In the North East and North Cumbria, there are a total of 12 NIHR-funded centres, collaborations and networks – including our own Applied Research Collaboration for the North East and North Cumbria.

Some of these collaborations and networks have a regional focus, others are national centres that are based in our region.

We work closely alongside each other –  and often together – to deliver the support, infrastructure, facilities and funding needed to enable research in our region and beyond.

The research landscape in our region can be complicated if you’re not familiar with it, so to help we’ve worked together to produce a single guide – which summarises the areas of work that we’re each responsible for, as well as illustrating how we work alongside each other and together.
