We are pleased to offer this new, fully funded PhD Studentship based at Newcastle University, starting September 2021 for three years.

PhD title: Facilitating improved health in type 2 diabetes patients from low socio-economic and minority groups in the North East.

It will explore health behaviours and attitudes to physical activity and dietary changes in relation to type 2 diabetes and obesity in low socio-economic status minority groups in the North East of England.

Following an initial literature scoping exercise, it will take a mixed methods approach, involving some exploratory data collection to inform intervention development.

The research will involve working in collaboration with the Newcastle United Foundation, particularly in participant recruitment but also in the development of new community-based health programmes in target groups.

You will be supervised by Professor Emma Stevenson, Deputy Dean of Newcastle University’s Population Health Sciences Institute, alongside other colleagues.

Closing date 16 August 2021
