Background

Diane is a Consultant Speech and Language Therapist and head of service based at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle Upon Tyne. With over 25 years of clinical experience, she has been in her current post since 2017. In 2016, she completed an NIHR MClinRes (Leadership) with Newcastle University. Her clinical specialty is in head and neck cancer (HNC) and she has contributed to several publications as lead and co-author.

She is involved in multi-centre collaborations and has been invited to speak at national conferences. As service lead, she has been successful in securing funding for new and innovative developments and is passionate about effective clinical leadership.

Area of work

Diane’s research project is around  the late side-effects of head and neck cancer treatment: exploring incidence, management and pathways.
