Jen Hicken

Knowledge Mobilisation Fellow

Jen Hicken works with the NIHR ARC NENC as an embedded Knowledge Mobilisation Fellow.

She is also a Network Delivery Manager for the North East and North Cumbria Child Health and Wellbeing Network, which is part of the Integrated Care Board (ICB) for the North East and North Cumbria.

Jen is the Child Health and Wellbeing Network lead for health inequalities and under-served communities, including development and implementation of the Core20PLUS5 framework for children and young people in the North East and North Cumbria.

She is experienced in working in cross-sector collaboration and partnership across the health and care system, having previously worked within Clinical Networks on programmes including maternity, mental health and suicide prevention.

Jen is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society and is part of the Inclusive Education Research Group at Northumbria University.

In her role as a Knowledge Mobilisation Fellow, she hopes to create new connections and build relationships between the research world and the wider system to maximise the impact of our programmes of work.

As Vice Chair of Newcastle Parent Carer Forum in a personal capacity, Jen has a particular interest in children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, improving understanding of neurodiversity, and support for families in the SEND system.
