Professor Chris Price

Deputy Director – ARC North East and North Cumbria

Professor Chris Price is the Deputy Director of the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) North East and North Cumbria (NENC).

He is a Professor of Stroke and Applied Health Research at Newcastle University, and a practising Stroke Medicine Consultant with the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

He is also the NIHR’s National Specialty Lead for Stroke.

As a clinical researcher, Chris works with national and international academic and industry collaborators to evaluate and implement interventions which improve patient access to emergency stroke treatments.

This includes studies funded by the Medical Research Council and Innovate UK to clinically evaluate technologies for diagnosing suspected stroke and their potential use in an ambulance environment.

His work has led to changes in national policy and training recommendations for emergency medical services personnel.
