Dr Abisola Balogun-Katung

Dr Abisola Balogun-Katung is an applied health and social care researcher with a background in public health with a specialisation in health promotion and disease prevention and a particular interest in reducing health inequalities.

Since completing her PhD in Public Health, which explored the lived experiences of men who have sex with men living with HIVE in Nigeria, Abisola has continued to develop an extensive portfolio of applied health and social care research using a range of research methodologies including systematic review, qualitative, quantitative and co-production.

Her research is underpinned by a commitment to amplifying the voices of marginalised and underserved populations, ensuring that those most affected by health and social inequalities are meaningfully involved in shaping research, policy and practice.

Much of Abisola’s research focuses on improving health and life outcomes for vulnerable children and young people, particularly those involved with children’s social care services.

Her recent work has involved developing, implementing, and evaluating complex interventions within children’s social care settings, with a particular emphasis on trauma-informed approaches and improving access to health and wellbeing support.
