Dr Eman Zied Abozied

Dr Eman Zied Abozied is a Research Fellow with or addressing inequity in health and care systems research theme.

She is also part of the Health Inequalities Team at Newcastle University Population Health Sciences Institute.

She is a geospatial data scientist by background and has extensive expertise in the use of geographical information systems (GIS) in public health.

She is primarily interested in the complex interplay between social, spatial and health inequalities, spatial determinants of health and climate as an emerging facet of inequalities.

Her individual programme of work examines spatial vulnerabilities to heatwaves through a health inequalities lens, with a view to developing interventions for local authorities and healthcare practitioners.

Her research explores how the built and natural environment shapes health outcomes and influences social and health inequalities.

She has worked on research projects focusing on the relationship between the environment and cognitive health, inequalities in health-related amenities on the high street and community pharmacy distribution in deprived areas.

She is currently working on a career development project focusing on the prevention of hospitalisation during heatwaves, and how structural inequalities can drive health outcomes during heatwaves.
