Research Fellow: Workforce inclusion and innovation for impact

Dr Emma Tuschick is a Research Fellow aligned to our workforce inclusion and innovation for impact research theme.

Emma’s Research Fellowship is hosted by Newcastle University, where she conducts interdisciplinary research focused on workforce challenges across health and social care.

Her work aims to understand and improve workforce wellbeing, sustainability and service delivery, with a particular interest in developing evidence that informs policy and practice.

Emma recently completed her PhD at Teesside University. Her research has focused on vulnerable and marginalised populations, exploring how health, social care and criminal justice systems can better support individuals with complex needs. Throughout her career, she has worked collaboratively with a wide range of organisations, including the NHS, police, probation, prison services and third-sector partners, to co-produce research with meaningful real-world impact.

Alongside her research, Emma has extensive experience teaching psychology across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and supervising student research. She has contributed to a range of interdisciplinary projects spanning mental health, public health, criminal justice and health inequalities, and has published in peer-reviewed journals.

Her research interests include workforce wellbeing, service improvement, implementation of evidence into practice, health inequalities and the experiences of underserved populations.

Emma is passionate about producing applied research that supports organisations, informs decision-making and improves outcomes for both professionals and the communities they serve.

Through her ARC Fellowship, she is committed to working collaboratively with researchers, practitioners and people with lived experience to develop evidence that strengthens the health and care workforce and enhances the quality of services.
