Professor Eileen Kaner is the Director of the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) North East and North Cumbria (NENC).

She also represents the NIHR Applied Research Collaborations (ARCs) on the NIHR Strategy Board.

Eileen is Professor of Public Health and Primary Care Research at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and is an applied behavioural scientist.

Her interdisciplinary research focuses on illness prevention in high-risk, vulnerable groups and involves participants at all stages of life. Addressing inequality and supporting people with complex health needs is at the heart of her work.

She has held leadership roles in two NIHR Schools (Public Health Research and Primary Care Research), the NIHR Innovation Observatory and the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Behavioural Sciences.

She is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and an Honorary Member of the Faculty of Public Health.
