A new opportunity for a Senior Research Assistant based at Northumbria University, working with the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration North East and North Cumbria.

The post holder will work on two research projects related to the complexities of working between healthcare, social care and community services. The projects are hosted by the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Well being at Northumbria University, and are also embedded within the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) North East and North Cumbria.

The specific projects are:

  • Safe System Transitions (SafeST) study, funded by Dunhill Medical Trust. This study aims to better understand and improve safety incident reporting in care home settings following discharge from hospital (see https://research.northumbria.ac.uk/safest), and
  • Implementation of mental health urgent and emergency care interventions for frequent service use: An evaluation study (HEAR), funded by Department of Health and Social Care. This study aims to understand how services are currently implemented for people who often use healthcare services.

The successful applicant will also become an ARC NENC Mental Health Fellow, providing a unique opportunity to establish and develop regional networks in the field of mental health. They will also become part of the ‘Knowledge Mobilisation and Implementation Science’ and ‘Multimorbidity, Ageing and Frailty’ themes of the ARC, where they will be able to further develop their knowledge and expertise.
