Fuse – 5th International Conference – early bird tickets now on sale

Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 June – Newcastle Upon Tyne

Registration is now open for the 5th Fuse international conference – ‘Learning from Setbacks and Successes’. The two-day event will feature around 50 sessions on a wide range of topics and will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Newcastle.

Developing funding proposals in applied health and social care: NIHR Funding Opportunities

Thursday 10 March, 10 am – 12.30 pm

The NIHR Research Design Service (RDS) North West is offering this online session for those who want to develop and submit a research funding application to one of the NIHR funding programmes.

This event is aimed at professionals and researchers in the NHS, public health and social care, as well as academics.

Conference: Learning Organisation Collaborative (LOC) in The Lakes 2022: Working differently for population health – inspiring change to reduce inequalities

17 – 20 May 2022, face to face and online events

LOC in the Lakes 2022 will focus on health inequalities, and consider how organisations can think and work differently to improve health and wellbeing for the people of north and west Cumbria. The event will feature a keynote address from Sir Professor Michael Marmot. Sessions will look at action that can be taken now to enable individuals to ‘start well, live well, age well and die well.’

TRAINING

Online training: Loss of a baby in multiple pregnancy – supporting grieving parents

This is a free, two-week course designed for health professionals working with expecting or recently bereaved multiple pregnancy parents in any capacity. Doctors, midwives, nurses, counsellors, and psychologists will find it valuable.

It provides in-depth guidance into what parents are going through, how to provide bereavement support, and how to celebrate each life in a multiple pregnancy.

The course has been co-developed by Professor Judith Rankin, our Supporting Children and Families theme lead.

Short training courses from the ARC East Midlands

The NIHR ARC East Midlands are offering a number of free, short training courses to all ARC members nationally.

Courses include a Twitter masterclass, implementation science/research frameworks, qualitative interviews and focus groups, systematic review, critical appraisal skills and more.

The theme of this year’s conference will be career pathways. The conference will be a hybrid event with further details to follow.

Public Health Interventions Responsive Studies Teams (PHIRST) – call for Local Authority initiatives

The Public Health Research (PHR) Programme are accepting Expressions of Interest from Local Authorities (LAs) that have initiatives in need of research and evaluation. The shortlisted Expressions of Interest will be given to Public Health Intervention Responsive Studies Teams (PHIRST) to co-produce research into.

LAs are invited to submit an expression of interest to identify specific initiatives within their work programmes that will benefit from research or evaluation input. The PHR Programme has now appointed six fully-funded academic teams, ready to work in partnership with LAs to co-design and undertake robust research on prioritised initiatives.

Decision Aid for Digital Mental Health Interventions

Applications are invited for a talented Research Fellow with expertise in mixed methods research to work on an ARC NENC-funded project. The project aims to co-design a prototype decision aid to support engagement of service users and primary care mental health practitioners in shared decision-making discussions about available options for digital mental health interventions (DMHIs).

Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant – Northumbria University

Understanding the implementation of ‘Making Every Contact Count’ (MECC) delivered by healthcare professionals in a Mental Health setting: A pragmatic process evaluation.

This role is to work on a research project funded by the ARC NENC (as part of the Prevention, Early Intervention and Behaviour Change theme). The aim of this evaluation is to inform the implementation plan for Making Every Contact Count (MECC) and facilitate successful implementation of the bespoke MECC training at scale. This project will be conducted within a mental health inpatient setting, and community treatment teams across Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW).
