New event: Putting health at the heart of economic renewal: An evidence-based framework for levelling-up health

 Friday 10 December 2021, 12.00pm – 1.15pm

This is an online event delivered by the Local Government Association (LGA), ARC North East & North Cumbria and Equal England, which will provide the opportunity to explore the latest research from the University of Cambridge and Newcastle University on ‘levelling-up health’, commissioned by Public Health England (as it was known at the time).

Today’s Fuse blog, to mark International Men’s Day, is all about an ARC NENC-funded project to evaluate the #BoroManCan campaign – which is an initiative that aims to overcome barriers to improve men’s health on Teesside.

New blog: Does a tipple topple the scales? The science on alcohol and body weight

A new blog by ARC NENC Research Fellow Dr Mackenzie Fong has just been published by the Institute of Alcohol Studies, which examines the relationships between alcohol, calorie intake, body weight and the interconnectedness of food and alcohol in real life.

New report – the impact of COVID-19 on intimate partner violence

A new study funded by the N8 Policing Research Partnership has looked at the impact of intimate partner violence and abuse on children, affected family members and perpetrators during COVID- 19.

The study was led by ARC NENC Senior Research Fellow Dr Hayley Alderson and involved a team including researchers linked to the ARC NENC.

Highlight notice for varied research approaches to address NICE and NIHR priorities in multiple long term conditions (MLTC)

A highlight notice for varied research approaches to address NICE and NIHR priorities in MLTC has been published. The highlight will apply to all PGfAR and PDG calls (to develop a future programme) throughout 2022.

PhD programme for Health Professionals

The Wellcome Trust-funded GW4-CAT Programme (which was previously open to medical, veterinary and dental graduates) is now open to ALL health professionals who are registered with a UK regulatory body.

This is a three-year (full-time) PhD programme, which provides exceptional support, training and guidance from world-leading academics and research environments.
