Putting health at the heart of economic renewal – an evidence-based framework for levelling-up health

Friday 10 December 2021, 12.00pm – 1.15pm

This session will provide the opportunity to explore new research from the University of Cambridge and Newcastle University on levelling-up health, commissioned by Public Health England (as it was known at the time).

The event is held on the same day as the research is published.

It is delivered by the Local Government Association (LGA) and Equal England, and supported by the NIHR ARCs North East and North Cumbria, and East of England.

New report on NIHR’s diversity data – improving diversity across our entire remit

The NIHR have shared their first formal report on their diversity data. This data forms the benchmark for NIHR to set appropriate targets to diversify participation in research and systems and to launch the necessary interventions required.

Opportunity: Newcastle University Academic Track (NUAcT) Fellow in Medical Research

The Rosetrees and Stoneygate Trusts have provided funding to appoint a NUAcT Fellow with an outstanding background in medical research within the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Newcastle University. The Fellowship can be in any area of medical research that has a clear vision towards patient benefit.

Closing date is 10 January 2022

Reminder: Improving mental health and wellbeing in underserved populations through collaborative research

The three NIHR schools (Public Health, Primary Care & Social Care Research) are offering new opportunities for funding to develop skills in Mental Health Research.

Masters Funding – There is funding for up to six Masters scholarships available.  Applications are invited from individuals who have a commitment to improving mental health and wellbeing in underserved populations who wish to undertake health research training as part of their development.

Career Development Awards – These are available to individuals already working in primary care, public health or social care in research, education or practice or people with research expertise in an aligned sector, topic area or discipline who wish to bring their skills and experience to primary care, public health or social care. Applicants can request funding of up to £25,000.
