Public Involvement & Community Engagement Introductory Workshop – Wednesday 20 September, 10am until 12pm via Teams

This event is for anyone connected with the NIHR ARC NENC including researchers, PhD/masters students, public contributors, community organisations, practitioners, practice fellows and others.

The aim of the session is to provide an introduction to public involvement and community engagement in health and social care research. The session will cover basic definitions, the underlying values and principles and will provide information, tools and resources to help you to embed PICE into your research practice.

Content

• National definitions of involvement, engagement and participation in research and the NIHR National Standards
• How to identify, approach and engage members of the public and local communities
• Remuneration, training and support for public contributors
• Identifying different roles for public members
• An introduction to Co-production and Peer Research
• The importance of impact, feedback and dissemination
• Where to go for further information resources, tools etc.
• Q & A

There will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions about any aspect of public involvement and community engagement in health and social care research.

The workshop will be facilitated by Dr Felicity Shenton – Public Involvement and Community Engagement Manager, and Dr Angela Wearn – Public Involvement and Community Engagement Research Fellow.
